wedding cake topper finished?
Great wedding.. can't remember half of it. but i made the toppers on the cake out of sculpey and painted it.. bah.. didn't have a lot of time. and the gorilla was an afterthought.. hence why he's missing a hand and with crappy painting and modeling.. maybe later i'll remake a version of myself to match Cat's. .. plus Cat's model may need some repainting.. ugh..
~Cheers~

Chips Challenge
Chips Challenge is from an era when games did not forgive. Where one hit killed and if you used your key on the wrong door or got a box stock in a corner, your best to go kill yourself because the game will not end the level for you. Part of me want to think that Chip is a bad ass, navigating a world of giant insects, tiny space ships, and unexplained deadly campfires, collecting computer chips bigger then him himself. But then part of me feels hes a pale little kid that will not swim with out his flippers and is hexed by a box against a wall. Whatever your feelings on Chip your mission is to draw him reinvented in action straight from the game.
If your to young to remember Chips Challenge or maybe you didn't play video games until they were cool heres a link for a free download of the game: http://takegame.com/arcade/htm/chipschallenge.htm
EDIT: FEEL FREE TO DO ANY "OLD" OLD SCHOOL PC GAME OF YOUR YOUTH. NO NES.

Gi Joe
what happened to the artist challenges?
Well anyways I got one should be fun for those with the time, worsted sidekick ever! This can be a personal statement about an existing sidekick. Like why does Batman hang out with a flamboyant teen boy from the circus? (please don't answer that) OR it could be one of your own creation.

I need help...
So I got my crab dude into Mudbox and damn if I have him almost out. I really don't know what Im doing when it comes to bump maps. All I can find on the nets is to turn from "bump" to "Tangent Space Normals" but that doesn't seem to change anything. The strange thing is it looks good in the viewer but when I do a render the bump gets way to intense. I have other problems like the seem down the back of his hip and the fact that I get an error every time I try to extract any part of his tail as TIFF but not problem if I do a JPG. The rest came out fine. I wanna get this guy done but damn, HELP me please!
Thanks in advance for any help or just a point in the right direction.

Art Challenge 5!
Up to this point we've sketched characters and vehicles so it's time for a switch! This week's drawing/painting challenge is to:
Create a concept art piece depicting an alien environment with signs of an ancient civilization (that may or may not be abandoned).
Think Star Wars episode3 or chronicles of riddick! Both have some sweet planet designs.
Some things to consider to help generate ideas:
Think of the use
What was the civilization like? peaceful? barbaric? Was this home to a land of giants? or hobbits? How about the technology, advanced? How do the structures reflect these characteristics? For instance, if the creatures can fly, maybe they don't need roads, and maybe their buildings sort of look like nests.... Also, what is the terrain like? Lots of mountains? Or sinkholes? How did the inhabitants adapt to the terrain? The ewoks lived in treetop villages....
Think of the look/feel
Is the environment cold? wet? dark? on fire? A cold unforgiving planet may have lots of jagged craggy elements. A warm inviting place may have soft vegetation or gentle waves. This feeling can be amplified by color choice, lighting, and how you draw as much as what you are depicting.
You have one week. Good luck and have fun! :)

p.s. Deadline is midnight of Wednesday night. To give those working a fighting chance...

The Wilhelm Scream
At work there are monthly art community challenges, which I've never entered. Today, our networks have been fubar so I couldn't get any work done... I checked out what the challenge topic was and it was the Wilhelm Scream. This was what I came up with in about 30 minutes, lol.
I think you have to click on the link to the actual .gif to see it animate.

I know I nerdgasmed
Gun Plane
This is what i modeled from.
I really liked doing this one. Just wish I would have managed my time better. Oh and Maya blew up my plane and I was unable to get it back, so I had to start at the half way mark again. This next week I'm going to try and texture it.
So I added some guns under the wings, and there is a gun coming out of the back of the cock pit.
Can't wait to see everyones.

Bug Man
This is my Megaman Boss. Bug Man. He has several attacks but his main attack is a glide across the screen. During this glide attack Bugman drops Bug bombs on the screen. when a Bug Bomb hits the Ground it Breaks into to and Crawls across the Ground before exploding.
me first mudbox
Well I've started a model in Maya to later be taken into Mudbox. Seeing as this will be my first Mudbox project I was hoping for some feedback, maybe some tricks or what not. I will be doing the model in all squares and when I get to the UVs, I willn't have any overlapping. That stuff I know.
One thing else new is I'll be doing the model in parts(head, arms, tail and body segments). I think this will make it easer to paint in Mudbox as well as make the thing more crab like.
thanks in advance for all the great feed back and help. If everything works out alright I'll let the group have the head for a mudbox/ zbrush painting challenge or something.
peace out!

New Challenge #3
Hey all!
I have to apologize to everyone.. I didn't have time to work on the megaman challenge this week. Busy at work!
I'd like to say a big Thank you to the artists that did contribute this week.
Notably: Corban, Kenny and Joy.. that's it so far.
New Challenge:
instead of characters all the time lets do some vehicle drawings!
Batman Universe.. choose from movies to comics. Try to reinvent his vehicles or even make one for a villain. Really all up to you! To all the EX - AAA ppl no reuse of old drawings!
examples of vehicles: batcycle, tumbler, bat skiboat, batmobile, batwing.. etc.
tutorials on vehicles: Gnomon videos by Ryan Church, Scott Robertson and Harald Belker.
Tune in next week! Same bat day, same bat hour.
