I was wondering if you guys would be up for doing 3D Modeling weekly challenge. Works the same way as the drawing one but we just do a 3D model of it. People that aren't up for the 3D modeling part can still post their concept drawing of what you would have modeled if you did so.
We can still do the one hour drawings during the week, and we can alternate from the weekly drawing to the weekly modeling. The topics shouldn't be to large, just something that can easily be made in a weeks time.
Hope everyone likes this idea can't wait to hear what everyone thinks.
later.

its a good idea but modeling challenges should take more then a week to complete. once a month at least.
People could pick a character from the drawing contests the month before and model it for the new month.
sounds good though.
he just means to make a model. not texture and uv it. 1 week is more then sufficient. i think its fine.
No more than 1 week, In one week you could have a character modeled and textured. Maybe more depending on the homework load. I fully support this idea!!! :)
Eric is calling you out Kenny! i say model it in a week when you have time. uvs and textures if you have more time. =P
eric wtf are you doing here? ;)
should have known you would pop up as soon as something 3D was mentioned :p
I too think a week would be fine in modeling and texturing but its really up to how much free time you have. I'm not really wanting each topic to last more then a week.
Better yet, we can all start with the same low poly base mesh and do a speed sculpt using mudbox or zbrush. It would be fun to see what people come up with using the same base head or bust.
must learn mudbox!
well, for what its worth. i think we should all draw up a line up of characters then next week ppl choose the best and model them.. the ppl that don't model can colour, i still like the idea. it'll help ppl improve their skills. its not like we are stopping ppl from doing regular 2d art if anyone is wondering. The ppl with Mudbox.. i would love doing that instead since i've been yearning to learn it.
If people wanna do this in a week more power to them, I have plenty of free time myself. I was thinking of those with homework or real jobs.
I really like the idea of taking a base mesh into Zbrush/Mudboxs, Eka.
Sounds like fun! How the hell are you able to model and texture a character in a week?! Damn I'd like to be that fast. 40+ hour work week and fiancee kinda' leave me with limited free time>< But I would love to get in on this! Alternating 3d/2d projects each week sounds good, if everyone else thinks so.
